About Us

Vision—To be a nurturing, Spirit-filled church that transforms lives through outreach, discipleship, and the equipping power of God’s Word.

TWC HISTORY

In November 1982, Elder Wilmure Burden, Mother Rosa Burden, and seven dedicated believers stepped out in faith to establish a ministry founded on the preaching of the Gospel and the power of God. Originally known as True Way Evangelistic Mission Church of God in Christ, the congregation began its journey in a humble two-bedroom house located at 4800 Alicia Drive in Virginia Beach, Virginia, which had been converted into a place of worship. Though modest in size, that little house became a place where lives were transformed. It became known as a house of prayer, miracles, deliverance, and the tangible presence of God.

Under the faithful leadership of Elder Wilmure Burden, the ministry continued to flourish. As the congregation expanded, God opened the door for the church to acquire 5.5 acres of land at its present location, 1735 Mount Pleasant Road in Chesapeake, Virginia. This move marked not only the growth of the ministry but also God's continued faithfulness in fulfilling the vision He had given.

Today, True Way stands as a testament to the faith, sacrifice, and obedience of its founders. We honor the vision established by Elder Wilmure Burden, Mother Rosa Burden, and the pioneering members who believed God for what they could not yet see. As we celebrate our rich heritage, we remain committed to carrying that vision forward—proclaiming the Gospel, serving our community, and advancing the Kingdom of God for generations to come.
